Kurt Calleja es un cantante y compositor de Malta nacido el 5 de mayo de 1989. Kurt Calleja ganó el ‘Malta Song for Europe 2012’ y representa a su país con la canción ‘This Is The Night’ en el Festival de Eurovisión 2012, celebrado en Azerbaiyán.
Después de cuatro años de entrenamiento con el Sr. Brian Cefai, Kurt se la jugó y se fue por un año en Londres. Mientras estaba allí actuó en clubes como Tiger y Tiger and Hosts. The King’s Arms y Bada Bing, entre otros lugares en los que de vez en cuando ofreció una actuación.
De vuelta en Malta, comenzó como corista en un programa de televisión y además consiguió ser solista en otra cadena de televisión.
En 2010 tomó parte en el ‘Malta Song for Europe’ en un dúo junto a Priscilla Psaila con la canción ‘Waterfall’. El año siguiente cantó “Over and Over”, que escribió junto al sueco Johan J’amtberg, cantante con su propia banda. La canción ganó muchos aplausos en el proceso, pero sin embargo quedó tercero. El grupo estaba formado por Kevin Calleja (ritmo / guitarra acústica), Rebecca Spiteri (batería), Christian Calleja (guitarra solista), David Baldaquino (bajo) y el apoyo vocal de Anthony Walther.
Kurt Calleja será el representante de Malta en el Festival de Eurovisión que se celebra en Bakú, Azerbaiyán en los días 22, 24 y 26 de mayo de 2012.
